Grading:
*Tests and Quizzes will be given on a weekly basis.
*You will be assigned sections of the study guide to complete each night for homework. This will help prepare you for class, and there will be times when I allow you to use your study guides on your quizzes. For homework you only need to answer the questions. We will do the vocabulary in class together. The study guides are posted on the website and I will offer extra credit if you print them out yourself.
*You should expect some form of writing assignment for each unit.
*The Notebook: You will keep a notebook for this class. You must have a 3-ring notebook for U.S. History. In this notebook you should have dividers. Your dividers will be labeled vocabulary, notes, study guides, classwork/homework, and other. I will check that you are keeping up with all your materials on the day of each test. You will turn in your notebook before the test and I will check your notebook. You will receive a grade on this.
*You will get a class participation grade on a weekly basis. You have the chance to earn a 100 each week if you participate in the warm-ups, class discussions, come class prepared, and remain on task. These are all factors which will determine your grade.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Make-up Work: If you are absent you will find the worksheets you missed in your folder at the front of the room. It is your responsibility to get the work you missed! I will not track you down. If you miss a test your name will be on the board with the deadline for when you should make up the test.
Late Work: If you are absent and it is unexcused you can only receive up to 75%. This will also apply if you forget to turn in an assignment or do not have it on the due date. There will be deadlines for late-work. You will not be allowed to turn in a stack of late work before the end of the quarter or semester! You should complete your assignments by the due date.
Calendar Sign-up: If you need to come in after school there is a sign up calendar in the front of the room. You are to put your name down for the days available along with the assignments you will be working on. You MUST sign up ONE DAY IN ADVANCE!
Office Hours: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (3:15-4:00), and by appointment.
After School Tutorials: Tutorials will be offered after school on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday for those who would like extra help, practice, or need to make up work. They last from 3:15-4:30. I will let you know what rooms these tutorials will take place at a later date. I expect you to take advantage of these opportunities!
Weekly Emails: I will be sending out weekly emails about general information and upcoming events. If you would like to be included in this email list (parents and students welcome), please include the email address where you would like to receive the email on the student information page. In the weekly emails I will remind you that students’ grades are posted on SPAN for you to access from home. If you do not have a SPAN account please call the school to get your password.
